03.08.2010 — Invitation to Meeting of National chapters

One of the conclusions of the Forward Look meeting was that IAH centrally could do more to support and encourage the work of the chapters, and chapters could learn from each other’s experiences.  To help develop this further, a meeting of national chapter representatives has been arranged for Thursday 16th September at 16.15. We would like one or two representatives of as many chapters as possible who happen to be in Krakow to attend.  We look forward to seeing you.

30.07.2010 — Cancellation of the training courses 1, 2 and 3

According to the previous information about extension of the training courses registration deadline we inform that the training courses (Visual Modflow – course 1, Field Hydrogeology – course 2, FEFLOW – course 3) are cancelled, due to not enough number of participants.

20.07.2010 — Technical guidelines

Technical guidelines for oral presentation and preparation of posters are now available.

15.07.2010 — Registration extended

Upon request of many participants the Organizing Committee has decided to extend the possibility to register for the IAH Congress and pay the registration fee on line or via bank transfer until 30 August 2010. After this date, it will only be possible to pay the registration fee on site at registration.

15.07.2010 — New post-congress tour

We are pleased to inform that another post-congress tour on Carpathian Mineral and Thermal Waters is organized in cooperation with the IAH Commission on Mineral and Thermal Waters.

19.05.2010 — Young/Early Career Hydrogeologists Meeting

There will be a meeting for all young/early career hydrogeologists on Tuesday of the Congress at 16:15.

The aim of the meeting will be to discuss how IAH can work to better involve and support those in their early careers and make IAH more attractive to young/early career hydrogeologists. The meeting will be chaired by Mark Cuthbert (University of Birmingham, UK).

Please contact Mark (m.cuthbert@bham.ac.uk) for more details and/or if you'd like to be involved in organising/running the meeting. The meeting will be followed by drinks/social event and we hope you can join us.

We would like to inform that due to runways repair planned for September, 2010 — the part of the OKĘCIE Airport in Warsaw (Warsaw Fryderyk Chopin Airport) will be closed on the following dates:

  • from midnight on 3/4 September, 2010 till 5.00 a.m. on 6 September, 2010;
  • from midnight on 10/11 September, 2010 till 8.00 a.m. on 12 September, 2010;
  • from midnight on 17/18 September, 2010 till 8.00 a.m. on 19 September, 2010.

Please be also informed that at this time Okęcie Airport in Warsaw will be opened for small ATR planes. Large aircraft such as Boeing, Embraer will be landing/taking off from other airports located outside Warsaw.

For more details please contact particular Airline.

We advise you to take direct flights to Krakow, possible from many European airports like Munich, Frankfurt, Prague, Vienna, Brussels, Helsinki, Athens and others.

The IAH is keen to extensively involve the scientific community in the sound management of aquifer. In an effort to lead the global debate on this, the IAH has established a range of Commissions, Working Groups and Expert panels.

We are pleased to announce that the response for the XXXVIII IAH World Congress "Groundwater Quality Sustainability", which will be held in Krakow, Poland, September 12-17, 2010, has been enormous!

Over 375 abstracts have been submitted for oral and poster presentations, and we expect some 500-600 delegates from over 40 countries worldwide. It gives good prospects for this Congress to be a successful event.
